‘ABC’ It’s As Easy as
1...2...3 to
Help the Less Fortunate
A Better Community (ABC) donation program began in July
1999 as an agreement between the Arizona Republic charities
and the City of Mesa. It was an easy method for Mesa’s
utility customers to assist those less fortunate. A voluntary
donation could be remitted with payment of the customer’s
utility bill. Since then, $1,150,438 has been donated to
Mesa’s non-profit agencies that provide human services
to low-income families, children and seniors. The ABC program
is still going strong and looking to you to help. If you
donate monthly, thank you. If you have donated in the past
and no longer do, or if you’ve never donated, please
consider adding a small amount to your monthly utility bills.
Every little bit helps and can go a long way in helping
Mesa’s low-income residents, at-risk children, the
elderly and the disabled. For more information contact Lisa
Wilson in the City’s Office of Human Services at 480-644-5831.
