Highlights of Fiscal Year

(July 1, 2005 – June 30, 2006)
Food Distribution
· We distributed 12,137,690 lbs. of food and grocery items
(11,198,965 lbs. to 235 Community Partner Agencies & shared
938,725 lbs. with 10 sister food banks)
· Distributed food provided more than 9,482,570 meals –
over 25,980 meals daily (365 days/year)
· 70% (8,477,151 lbs.) of all the food we distributed through
partner agencies went to 173 partners in Maricopa County
· Though, on average, our “fill rate” for our
partners’ food requests was 90+%, they requested another 1.34
million pounds of food & household commodities that we could
not provide
· Through our “Community & Schools Distributions”
we averaged 63 produce distributions monthly providing fresh produce
to over 16,750 people each month
· In our 25 year history (since 1983) we’ve distributed
177,896,948 pounds of food – food enough for 138,981,900+
meals
Operations
· Using our Nutrient Tracking & Enhancement System (NTES™),
we increased the nutritional value of the food we distributed
· During an average workday our warehouse processed 50 tons
of food
· For each $1 of expenses we can distribute 6.67 lbs. of
food worth $10.00– enough to provide 5 1/4 meals
· Volunteers provided over 47,100 hours of work –
equivalent to 22.6 paid staff
Programs
· Our Emergency Food Box provider agencies reported distributing
290,500 food boxes which assisted 872,800 people
· During FY ‘06/’07 through our internal food
box programs (Food for Thought & Helping Hands) we distributed
nearly 17,340 food boxes to at-risk children & families
· Through our self-help food co-op program (Help Yourself)
we distributed over 19,300 food boxes/bags
· At year-end, our 45 Kids Café sites were serving
a nutritious meal/snack to more than 2,625 children daily
